1/ Overall dimensions for trucks do not include bumpers and handles.
2/ Shelf spacing is defined as the distance between the top surface of one shelf to the bottom surface of the shelf above.
2.2 Materials and components. The truck shall be fabricated from 300 series stainless steel. Threaded fasteners shall be stainless steel, nickel plated carbon steel or chromium plated carbon steel.
2.2.1 Casters. Casters for size 1 and 2 trucks shall be 8 inches in diameter. Casters for size 3 trucks shall be 5 inches in diameter. The front casters for sizes 1 and 2 trucks shall be rigid and rear casters (near the handle) shall be swivel. Size 3 trucks shall have all swivel casters. All wheel treads shall be made from a vinyl or rubber-like materials that will provide quiet operation on hard surfaces.
2.2.2 Handle. Trucks shall have a handle welded to the frame at one end as shown in figure 1. The clearance between the handle and the frame shall be a minimum of 3 inches. The handle shall be equipped with a bumper(s).
2.2.3 Bumpers. Truck frames shall be equipped with bumpers to protect walls from impact in any direction. Bumpers shall be capable of being replaced and shall be made from a resilient, nonmarking material.
2.3.4 Codes and Standards. The hand trucks shall conform to the requirements of National Sanitation Foundation Standard No. 2.
2.4 Data name plates (Government unique requirement see 5.4). The trucks shall be furnished with a data name plate in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-STD)-130 except the requirements for: (a) Methods of applying, (b) Identification tags, (c) Information not required and (d) Optional marking information shall not apply. The data plates shall be made of minimum 20 gauge corrosion-resisting, metal and attached to the trucks by rivets, screws or welding in such a manner as to meet the applicable National Sanitation Foundation sanitary requirements, for this equipment. The plate shall contain the following information which shall be stamped, engraved or applied by photosensitive means:

Procurement Instrument Identification Number
Specification Data
Manufacturers Name, Address and Telephone Number
Supplier’s Name, Address and Telephone Number (list only if different
from Manufacturer)
Manufacturer’s Model Number
Government Approved Manual Number (see 5.2)
