Each plate shall be placed so that is readily visible to the operator during normal operating use and so as to not adversely affect the life and utility of the item.
2.5 Workmanship. The finished trucks shall be clean and free of scratches dents, wrinkles, fabrication marks, breaks, cracks, punctures, sharp edges, sharp corners, burrs, slivers and deformities. Welds shall be ground to blend with adjacent surfaces and shall be free of pinholes, burnholes, cracks, incomplete fusion, pits and flashes. All fasteners shall be drawn tight and shall be free of crossed or stripped threads.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE.
3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
4. PACKAGING.
4.1 Commercial packaging and packing. Each item shall be cleaned, preserved, packaged, packed and utilized in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
4.2 Export packaging. Each truck shall be cleaned, preserved, and cushioned to protect against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipping and storage. Assembly hardware and casters shall be packaged in a fiberboard box conforming to style optional, type CF or SF, class domestic of PPP-B-636.
4.3 Export packing. Each truck with its parts package shall be packed in a cleated-plywood box conforming to overseas type, style optional of PPP-B-601. The truck shall be blocked, braced, or anchored to prevent movement or damage while in transit. Each box shall be closed and strapped in accordance with the appendix of PPP-B-601. When specified (see 5.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147.
4.4 Labeling (commercial and export). Commercial labeling shall be acceptable.
4.5 Marking (commercial and export). Marking of shipping container and unit load shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
5. NOTES.
5.1 Intended use. The trucks are intended for use in kitchens, galleys, dining rooms, and hospitals for transporting food, kitchen supplies, dishes, medical and laboratory supplies, and linen.
